The Zywave aberrometer measures your complete optical system using ‘wavefront’ technology.
This measurement gives the surgeon highly detailed information on your visual defect and any other tiny aberrations (anomalies) in your optical system that might be causing light to scatter unevenly, ultimately affecting your quality of vision. It can detect defects equivalent to 0.01 D, whereas traditional subjective tests have a precision of only 0.25–0.5 D.
Some kinds of ‘higher-order aberrations’ cannot be corrected with glasses or contact lenses.
Using these data for laser surgery allows us to remove such aberrations and improve both contrast and quality of vision. |
