Before laser surgery
You will have a pre-operative consultation at Vision Laser with Mr Philippe Parendeau, an optometrist, and your ophthalmologist. The objective is to evaluate your vision problem, discover any possible counter-indications to surgery and choose the technique best suited to your needs. For the best possible results, you should remove your soft contact lens five days prior to the consultation and your rigid contact lenses two weeks beforehand. Your doctor will carry out the assessments, inform you about the surgical procedure, and provide extensive written documentation. After this two-hour assessment and discussion, your pupils may be dilated, making it difficult to drive or read for a few hours.

During laser surgery
The laser surgery takes place at Vision Laser centre as an outpatient procedure. You should avoid using any makeup on your eyes for at least three days prior.

The anaesthesia is administered by eye drops, which remove all feeling from the surface of the eye. Your eyelids are held open by a small spreader, allowing the surgeon to carry out the chosen procedure. During this time, you will be asked to look at a point of light for a few minutes. If your eye moves by even a few millimetres, a movement sensor will automatically switch off the laser beam.

After laser surgery
You can leave the centre about 15 minutes after the end of the procedure, although it is best to arrange for someone to pick you up. You can start working again in a few days. You must wear protective glasses until the next morning, however. A follow-up consultation will be scheduled for the day after surgery.
